Garden Trugs – once just a Spanish oddity

Once just the preserve of Spanish builders – and a few others –  the black ‘Capazos’ has now become part of everyday life here in the UK. From the garden to the kids’ bedroom, and from keeping the beers cool at the barbecue to nearly every builder’s van, the humble Capazos is here to stay.

I first thought about importing these rather interesting utilitarian buckets back in 2004. And rather than stick with black, we had them made in orange and, along with the existing black Capazos, offered them to B&Q. I had a partner in crime and it was to prove an interesting story for us both.

From euphoria to major disappointment, it taught me a lot about the pitfalls of working with big multiple retailers. Both good, and bad.
